Hornet from Hollow Knight: paper sculpture

This sculpture was created using both wide and thin paper sheets and put together using super glue. I got the shapes by exploiting the rigidity obtained from the glue, allowing me to use the cutter to smooth the model like I would do in woodcarving practice.
For colors I used different brushes of different sizes and the same paint usually used for resin miniatures.

Tutorial (follow the images as i progress through the steps):

Step 1: first, take a paper sheet in the shape of hornet's shell. Then take another square-shaped sheet, make a little cut to the middle and overlap the two half, creating a little relief;

Step 2: place the relief on the other piece. Keep giving form to the shell by creating another piece (a more subtle version of the first piece);

Step 3: overturn the model and create a new piece (a third hornet shell shaped sheet but folded to the middle) which is enough to complete the below relief;

Step 4: I made use of A4 paper to deck the model, giving it a more clean and smooth look, taking advantage of the A4's thinness;

Step 5: paint the head and add the eyes, thus completing the head;

Step 6: next is the dress, and start with a cone shaped piece, put together with a large ring shaped piece that was folded several times to create the right shape of the dress folds;

Step 7: put together the two pieces and then create a long half cylinder, cut it in equal parts and place them aroun the ring in order to obtain a more defined cape;

Step 8: I reuse the A4 trick (described in step 4) on the dress, thus almost completing it. The last step is creating a more obtuse cone shaped piece to use for the collar;

Step 9: Color the dress and then attach it to the head;

Step 10 : Create the legs shape, connect them together through a cylinder shaped piece;

Step 11: use another cylinder shaped piece to create the base for the body;

Step 12: I repeated the A4 trick described in step 4, and once the body is full colored, it's time to connect it with the rest;

Step 13: create the arms and connect them to the body, completing it after a last A4 treatment;

Step 14: Now that the character is complete, it's now time to do the needle. Create the hilt shape first, proceeding then with two isosceles triangles folded in the middle to create the blade;

Step 15: color the needle and put everything together;

Step 16: I used the string for last: I made it go through the needle's eye, i hardened the string with the glue, and i molded it in order to allow the model to stand on its feet;

The model can now be exposed
